they bought begals (I think) and ate them outside and then went in to buy the only thing dear departed george could afford.

The film is based in Truman Capote's novella of the same name.

"I don't want to own anything until I find a place where me and things go together.  I'm not sure where that is, but I know what it's like.  It's like Tiffany's." --Holly.

"When I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump into a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away." --Holly.

"If I could find a real life place to make me feel like Tiffany's, then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name." --Holly

Tiffany & Co the famous New York jewelry store where Holly eats breakfast in the scene under the opening titles, is located at 727 Fifth Avenue at 57th Street in New York City

Oh God Holly was a loser, wasnt she ?
Apparently Tiffany's NY gets many visitors expecting to be able to eat breakfast there.  But you don't even have to be paying close attention to the movie to see Holly eating her bagel whilst standing outside the shop.
