Why do they have to ruin programmes with Halloween. Strictly tonight was horrendous, it took away from the fact it was a dance competition and turned it into a pantomime. The same with Alan Tichmarch show yesterday. There is no need for it.

Oh well, Halloween is over now, so it will be back to normal next week.
If you think that was bad you should have seen x Factor.
Eastenders yesterday was also a pantomime from start to finish.
Is it a dance competition Caran? Or is it a popularity contest?
It's more of an entertainment show.
they do it every year
Shame that you hated it, however being topical is not new on such shows... It seems to me they were more entertaining than the usual zombies... gutted I don't watch them.

Pixie Lott aside

I gave up on X Factor years ago. The sob stories really made me mad for one thing.
I thought it was a horror show every week what with Judy and Scott combined with macabre voting patterns....

I really like Strictly and watch it every week and the mid week shows at 6.30. Last nights show was also ruined by silly antics.
I agree Caran, it distracted from the dancing IMO with the costumes and make up much more emphasised than normal.
Halloween? You're out of date, surely.

From Channel 5's schedule this afternoon:
1.50pm Film: A Christmas Visitor
3.35pm Film: A Carol Christmas
5.15pm Film: The Town Christmas Forgot

Merry Christmas, Caran!

Thanks Chris. The programmes over Christmas don't seem as hyped up as they do at Halloween. I can choose not to watch the films if I want to, it's when they jazz up the "ordinary" programmes to match the season I object. It causes a detraction to the programme.
"The same with Alan Titchmarsh show yesterday, there is no need for it"

Couldn't agree more with that, regardless of Halloween

Eastenders always go over the top with any event, Valentines, Halloween and always throw a party in The Vic regardless what day of the week,

Best line of the night in Eastenders friday was Mick Carter when asked if he was Frankenstein..."I'm Herman Munster you slice"

A "Danny Dyerism" if ever I've heard one
When did it change to a dance competition? Every week, people vote for the person they like/fancy etc , NOT for the way he/she dances. I gave up watching SCD for that reason and also because of the presenters. They're no better today.
I'm with you 100% on the amatorish "acting" on Strictly, to the sob stories on the xfactor....also one of the main reasons for not watching it.
Buenchico......got to agree with you!! I was watching Ch 5.......and thought i'd lost a few weeks somewhere? And woke up the week before Christmas! What was all that about?
Loved Strictly last night, loved the Halloween theme, think it's a great programme and hope Jake wins !
Since when was Alan Titchmarsh not a pantomime - he is such a Dame!!
