I was watching Peter Ustinov `playing Poiret the other day, and was surprised to see d.suchet playing Insp Japp.

That's nothing. I was watching reruns of the very excellent "Alias Smith and Jones" starring Pete Duel and Ben Murphy before Christmas. In one episode Kid Currie guns down a baddie in a shoot-out, then a week later the same actor reappeared as Hannibal Hayes. Presumably it was a different season or series but still a bit weird.

I watched an old episode of Last of the Summer Wine recently and was surprised to see a character whom I took to be Tom Simmonite smarter dressed than usual and speaking without his normal broad accent.

It was only when Compo appeared that I realised the programme must have been one from before the death of Bill Owen, with his son (Tom Owen) playing just a bit part as 'man outside bank', rather than taking the role of Tom Simmonite.
