Anyone else agree with me this is the best thing on TV for years? Heart stopping scenes (some a bit violent though) nice bit of romance, good looking lead actor - had a few tears at the end of the first episode ..... now has me hooked and I have recorded the whole 7 part series!!

..... and now getting ready for Poldark ......... :)

BBC2 Thursdays at 9pm - or watch on catch up ....
It was from the Express crusader, can't remember the clue but can give you the answer if you want.
sorry wrong thread
Absolutley fabulous, as I expected it would be when I read that it was written by Jimmy McGovern. He tells a rollicking good story every time but the production values seem very high in this series.

Great stuff.

Glad you agree with me HC, don't watch much television really but spoilt for choice at the moment with Mr Selfridge, Banished and soon Poldark! Hardly see anything of Hubby sitting downstairs these days .....
I saw the trailer for Poldark and will definitely give it a go. We've had some top quality drama over the last year, long may it continue.
I had my doubts during the first ten minutes but then, really enjoyed it.
I didn't fancy it when I read the 'blurb' but I will now give it a go.
Same as, jake.
Is it very violent? I wanted to watch it but this is what put me off.
I agree, it was excellent.
While there were a few moments of violence, I wouldn't say its too much or a reason not to watch it.
I hope the blacksmith gets his comeuppance over the coming weeks...
Don't let the violence put you off, pips1. It accounted for only a few minutes of the programme and isn't too graphic
I didn't like Banished but as we were abroad for Poldark 1, I'm looking forward to Sunday and Poldark 2.
Despite poor critical responses prior to its screening I still gave it a go and enjoyed it very much. Typical Jimmy McGovern (anti authority) but that didn't spoil it. Good drama well acted.
Where are you up to Ann? I'm up to episode 6 ... Major Ross!! ;0)
