Half and half, imo. I think it's the trio with Clarkson at the helm and the fact that all three of them have a passion about cars.... especially super cars. Boys like super cars. Personally I'd love to have a Fiat 500...but I still enjoy Top Gear (or did) I'm never going to get round the track in the 'non star in a reasonably priced car' in a Fiat... I like their...

Talbot - //If he thought his injury was so bad...why was he driving? //
You seem relentless in your intention to find evidence for your assertion that this assault was not serious enough to merit medical attention.
How can we know? We weren't there, we didn't see.
Your opinion is that this injury was trivial - the recipient obviously did not agree.
Where else do you think this is going to go?

I would like to think that when i am in my workplace, i won't get assaulted (at least by my colleagues) If someone hit me at work, i ould expect my employers to discipline them , and to get rid of them so i never had to see them again. I have worked with a variety of crap colleagues, but at least none of them has hit me!
I don't understnd why he hasn't been sacked - not having contract renewed is not the same as being sacked.
I like top gear, and i will miss it, and him, but c'mon who could seriously expect to keep their job in htese circumstances?

I understand that Clarkson has actually been sacked - dismissed from his current contract, as opposed to allowing his contract to end, and then elect not to renew it.
I understood that he was being 'let go' as opposed to fired, but it seems the BBC have made a stand by actually dismissing him.

I'm sure that many of Clarkson's supporters are, like Talbot, taking some solace in the perception of Tymon as a wuss in order to deflect the focus away from JC acting in a completely unacceptable way that they themselves would not tolerate if they were on the receiving end of it.
If those same people heard of some other TV presenter flying into a tantrum when unable to get a hot meal at a hotel, I wonder if they'd be so accepting of it, or would condemn it as self-important primadonna behaviour.
I'm not exactly a wholehearted supporter or defender of TV programme-makers; I've worked with some and occasionally found them very annoying. But location shooting can be a hard job, with long hours, a lot of stuff to co-ordinate, and overbearing, demanding 'talent' to keep happy. It's not a job a wuss could easily do. I'm surprised there haven't been more producers punching presenters.

I have ignored most of the 100's of Clarkson threads. I haven't lost any sleep over him getting the sack, I haven't signed any petition.
...how am I a supporter?
I don't go around hitting people but I don't and never have accepted anyone hitting me without retaliation. I would never go and waste the valuable time of the good people working in A&E with a fat lip.
Oisin Tymon... imo, is a wuss.

My last two injuries.
Those little white stitches, brilliant things. I stitched my left hand up between my thumb and pointer finger (with 5 of them)
Severed a tendon on my middle finger on my right hand, worked the rest of the day (about 7 hours. Went home had a shower and popped to A&E when it wasn't busy. They sent me home after doing absolutely nothing to it. They gave me an appointment for another hospital 4 days later.
It's people going with fat lips that mean that people with real injuries (like a severed tendon) don't get speedy treatment but have to wait around hours upon hours..

Someone electing to have an injury assessed on the basis of severity (which you cannot know), or potentially to ensure a record of the injury in case of further repercusions by his employer, or the person who assaulted him, is not a wuss.
Your caveman credentials are laid out for all to see - forgive me if I fail to sound impressed.

ummmm - //I agree with Talbot. I've witnessed so many fights and have never known anyone to go to A&E with a fat lip. //
The I refer you to my previous response to Talbot - no-one knows how bad the injury was, the phrase 'fat lip' is being bandied about by people on here who have not seen the injury, or how serious it may or may not be.
It is possible that BBC employees who are assaulted are required to be seen by a doctor, and have their injury recorded, for use in potential legal consequences further down the line.
I don't know - I am speculating - but yourself and Talbot seem keen to judge this man's actions based on media reports, not something you know to be a fact.
