Alas wasn't Billy the child abusing uncle of Jack Ryder? Now, although a little on the wayward side, he is quite kind.
Billy Mitchell was violent originally because of his own internal demons as a result of having been abused in a care home. He was able to change after he had confronted his abuser when he appeared in the pub.

And there's Jim Brannaon. When he first appeared he and his sons where racist. Now Jim has racist intentions at all.
Jim Branning? I don't remember his ever having any sons on screen. He appeared as a character because he is the father of Carol Jackson, and grandfather of Sonia. Come to think of it, I don't remember him being racist either.
