Has anyone watched this? I've recorded it, but have just read some of the write-ups and reviews and I'm not sure I want to go there (I'm a bit nervous about the bestiality).
Any comments appreciated.

Well the Danes aren't happy are they?

Not sure it is something I would watch.
I have see a clip from it, from the clip that I saw it looked like there was a war going on.
Drat, I missed it on Saturday. I do enjoy Borgen etc and the dark brooding atmosphere of the Scandinavians/German film noir programmes.
whirlyhurly, you'll probably still be able to watch it on BBC iplayer.
Thanks Tony.
Your welcome :-)
I wouldn't bother .My eyes glazed over after 20 mins or so .It's about the Danish war with Prussia.
I usually like the Scandi stuff especially Wallander but this was dire .
So used to a bit of sunny Sicily with Montalbano on 4 ,this was a shock to my system :)
We weren't sure after watching it, whether to carry on or not - an odd story - so much cruelty. Looking forward to Jarskott starting on ITV Encore soon. Hoping that will be better.

and it was 1864 and it WASN'T the american civil war

so I thought it might be worth a watch

May be the der daah Schleswig-Holstein question ( to which there was no answer but the prussians won priddy quig ) - about which Disraeli said it was a question wrapped up in an enigma wrapped up in ( another incomprehensible thing ) and Churchill said: only three people understand the S-H question - two are dead and the third is mad.

none of the above had sex with animals as far as we know
iPlayer shows
Episode 1 Expires tomorrow at 10pm
Episode 2 Expires tomorrow at 11pm

Dear BBC, some of us find forced binge-watching no fun. Have some foie gras.

Am annoyed to discover Ep3/8 and 4/8 were back to back on the 23rd. I set 3/8 to record 'on the fly' and didn't notice the one after it. As above, only available 7 days on iPlayer. :-(

Final two episodes tonight.

whirlyhurly, don't forget the Swedish drama starting next Wednesday on TVEncore. Jordskott. It also looks good
I thought it was brilliant from start to finish. Yes there were some cultural anomalies like showing someone having sexual intercourse with a cow (!) but the powerful portrayal of how nationalism and populist pedagoguery can destroy thousands of lives was well observed, often in detail that was almost too much to bear.

PS- it helps to record it first or use the live pause button if you have to leave the screen. Why- because it's all in subtitles.
Jordskott. I that the one that has stolen the theme music from my favourite series 'Vikings'?
