Thomas is a Christian name, so no.
No they are two different companies.

Thomson is a subsidiary of the TUI Group (and in fact TUI has recently announced that the trade name Thomson will disappear over the next few years).

The current Thomas ok Group was fomed in 2007 by a merger of Thomas Cook and Son and MyTravel Group plc.
No, they aren't. Thomas Cook was started up by Mr Cook to do temperance tours - the first one was to Loughborough in 1841. Thomsons is a mass tourism group founded in the 1960s, now owned by Germans.
Thomas Cook was the world's first travel agent, running railway excursions in 1841. The company he started then remains independent of all others.

Roy Thomson founded the company that bears his name in 1965. It's now a subsidiary of the TUI Group, which is based in Germany.
^^^I must type faster (or stop trying, and failing miserably, to multitask effectively)!
Buenchico, Cox & Kings go back to an army agent in the 1750s.
Correct, Jno.

Please replace 'travel agent' with 'tour organiser' in my post above!
No deadly enemies!! I used to work for Thomson or Lunn Poly as it was when I joined. I was in the salaries department doing payroll for all the part timers throughout the country. There was a lot of them too. Loved my job.
Thomson and First Choice are the same company.

Both owned by TUI and both names (Thomson and First Choice) will gradually be faded out in favour of the TUI name (which I think is a bit risky but there you are, people like names they know).
