Why??

Why is there a Media & TV category on Answerbank? Why is there even a separate category for just TV? Why are they on here if we are not allowed to discuss programmes? We all know there is an off button, we all know soaps are not real. We are not stupid - it is a discussion site. The stupid ones are the people who say 'it is not real' and think they are the first ones who have ever said it. I like to read what other people's opinions are and this is the first thing I look at. Critics get paid for doing this in real life!!

pips - The trick with any internet exchange is to allow for the fact that human nature rules here, the same as everywhere else. Exactly supermike, exactly. My point is someone asks the question and while we are all discussing the programme and giving answers (or not) some wag always chimes in 'it's not real you know' or 'there is an off button'. WE KNOW but surely the point is we watch the episode and whether we have enjoyed it or not we come on here to see what others thought. Sometimes programmes are supposed to evoke reaction in us you know.

Some people don't grasp that fundamental point, and spend screeds of cyberspace moaning about what they see as the shortcomings of one AB'er or another, when the simple answer is just to ignore anyone who gets your goat, and converse with the people you like.

Pips, I totally agree with you. No matter what program we are discussing there is always some wag who will point out its not real or we can always switch it off. Oh really? Didn't realise My TV had an off switch!
The ones that say 'never watched it' are the worst. Why do these people waste their time posting these replies when they have no interest in the show?
If I see something being discussed that I have no interest in then I move on to the next subject I am interested in. Maybe next time a history discussion is going on I will come on and say 'not interested in history' and see how many posters tell me to bore off.
