I turned it over because OH was asleep and I thought he'd enjoy it so going to watch it on catch-up...

Good morning Elina, I have always seen the man behind the Image, he came over as a moron in his days of the sex pistols & it worked, he got banned from a few place because of his act & that's what it was all about, the press, BBC played right into his POCKETS, I will not go into this any further as it will spoil you thoughts, but it will open your eyes about the man called Jonny Rotten xx

Whatever one thinks of the persona he shows to the public he has survived, made a good few pounds and seemingly long standing friends and has been married to Nora for years. I was too old to be a punk fan at the time but have to admire his achievements ... and love him ignoring Paul McCartney!!!

Hi TWR, very candid, loved it. I respect him. I didn't know about his earlier ill health, I cannot imagine the fear he went through, made me think of a moment with my brother (limbic Encephelitis) .. when we sat in a hospital car park so he could have a cigarette .. he asked how long he'd been there & he cried & said he was scared, never saw him cry before. He asked how long my son had lived abroad, he'd been there to see him off, he couldn't take it in. So I felt Lydons fear & could empathise with him.

I really hate it when people say things like "Oh the stories I could tell you" Tell or don't tell but don't hint. It makes you look like you are struggling to be interesting.

I recorded this but although I was (and am) a big Sex Pistols fan I didn't fancy watching it for some reason. But thanks to the comments above, I will watch it now

I didnt see it all, but watched bits and pieces while working, Ive seen him in interviews before, he is actually quite a decent bloke! Ok, he can be a bit "up himself" but I quite like him.

I very rarely watch Life Stories as I'm not keen on Piers Morgan but I saw a trailer showing John Lydon and thought yes, this is one that I will watch. He is a very decent and loving man and if only his interview back in the 70s about a certain vile person hadn't been banned by the BBC!

I thought we saw the good side of the bloke, from his bad younger days to now, but not sure I believed him, when he said he knew what was going on with Saville.

I would have thought he would have shouted from the rafters, if he knew about it in his Sex Pistol days.

He seems to have sussed what makes him happy in life & has remained true to what he believes in TWR. Clever man!

I interviewed JL years ago, and found him fascinating.

If you look back, he has really never been any different - he is totally honest, and he doesn't suffer fools gladly, which makes him a refreshing change in the music industry!

He told me how the Daily Star once sent a reporter to Italy in search of the marriage certificate for JL and Nora because JL told the paper they had hot married over there. It was a complete lie, done for the devilment of it, because he despises the tabloids, with very good reason.

I have always liked and respected him, and I find is singing voice fascinating - hopefully will be able to catch up with him again some time.
