I do remember one from years ago. It might still be on Youtube. It was for Woman and Woman's Own. The ad was called "Thank heavens for magazines" and ended with the line "Without the weeklies what would all we women do?" It literally killed the magazines within weeks.
Victora Plumb. Their adverts make me want to put my foot through the telly, especially the one with the kids in the bath, arghhhhh! I'd never look at their website.

Was that because women didn't want to be seen buying it or because they didn't like being patronised...or both?
I think it was the patronising tone of the advert.

Yes Badric, she is becoming a parody of younger self.
I never buy anything that is advertised.
If it has to be advertised it can't be much good! . Good stuff sells itself !
Most adverts put me off, if I do watch them I tend to remember what went on, but not what product they were advertising.
The windows one 'you buy one get one free'. You don't' get one free they are all added into the price.
That's interesting Eddie , I'd be fascinated to know which tea/coffee or washing detergent you purchased for example.

Advertising is not simply flogging a duff product, though of course some do slip through.

^ ... or car, phone, camera - the list could go on and on.
Mamyalynne, Coffee Nescafe Azera, or which ever ground coffee is on the best special offer.Washing powder the cheapest supermarket own brand at the time, same with tea.
Washing powders ARE all the same no matter what the adverts say. I am a graduate industrial chemist I know what goes into them !(75% inert filler)
Apart from the coffee I have no brand loyalty to any product, cheapest on the day is my only rule.
Always supermarket own brands unless there is an offer on a brand name product that makes it cheaper!
I am not doubting your credentials for one moment, just seemed an impressive statement.
Those stupid Haribo ads where the supposed adults talk like kids.

As for the car hire adverts where the American promises 'American service' I want UK service not crrappy American!
I absolutely hate the 'Audrey Hepburn' Galaxy advert, it's been on every ad break for the past two years (feels like it anyway!). But sadly it has not out me off eating it!
EDDIE51 lol
how do we know a new product is "out there"
BT ads do it for me! Utterly pointless.
Kinder chocolate where the little cartoon boy pretends to be a doctor.
