Too busy to do panto?
Because she didn't help the Conservatives win the election?
because she has lived in France all her professional life ?
I'd forgotten all about her. She's not exactly in the public eye, is she. Why do you think she ought to be?
I don't expect the British Honours system causes her to lose much sleep - she seems to have done very well for herself over a lifetime of media work. Sometimes the awards seem quite random.
Why should she be ? Or indeed any other celeb unless there is a specific reason other than being well known ?

All been totally pointless for ages now anyway.
It's getting to the point where not having an award sets you apart from those with one. A kind of reverse cachet, if you will. I mean, Barbara Windsor??? With all her criminal associations!
I think Barbara Windsor is being recognised for her charitable works rather than for her criminal associations. ;o)
my uncle got MBE a few years back..was behind Norman Wisdom in queue to go in...
I appreciate that Naomi, but she's well known to have had criminal associations and I'm surprised that the organisers of the honours didn't consider the potential for their choice to taint their reputation.
Maybe Petula Clark turned one down.

You do get asked in advance if you will accept and some people do say no.

You can say no for all sorts of reasons.
Zacs - //I appreciate that Naomi, but she's well known to have had criminal associations and I'm surprised that the organisers of the honours didn't consider the potential for their choice to taint their reputation. //

I don't think you should be castigated for knowing - or indeed as Ms Windsor's case, marrying convicted felons - that does not impact on your own personal actions.
an ex's dad turned down a knighthood..he was a bigwig in education...his reason he gave was "thanks but no thanks..my wife is already a lady ""
I was surprised to read your suggestion, vernonk, actually one of the last people I would have thought of in connection with an award. I thought she retired years ago, and has lived in France for a long time. She didn't really get to the top of her profession in my opinion, she had a couple of top records, but nothing exceptional.
Waits to be shot down in flames!!!........
Hur hur Helly!
Controversially I know of one recent awardee whose only known recommendation was being very unfussy about what she put in her mouth, an you get my drift.
Works in th'arts like lots of Metropolitan types seem to ie spends other folks money freely
You may have a point about Pet not seeking to join the merseybeat/ later britpop scene, she's been there done that and got her own chateau
Top of her profession? Neither was my indiscriminate lady contact - so I'm not sure it's professional accolades that provide the deciding vote!
