Just enjoyed an ITV programme on the life of Kenny Everett.
The only DJ imo opinion who had great talent, played great records and had my sense of humour (irreverant and wacky). That man always made me laugh out loud and I am off to bed shortly with a sore stomach through laughter.
How I miss his shows. Wish they would let us enjoy repeats but I guess the PC Stasi wouldn't agree. :-(

Nice to nod off with a smile, sleep well :-)
Agreed. A touch of Milligan there I think.
Oh, how I remember watching his shows as a teenage lad just to get a glimpse of Cleo Roccas....

Amazing. That is exactly what I said to the wife when we were creasing up with laughter.
oh I don’t think it would bother the PC types, after all On the busses and similar tasteless dross gets repeated.. Maybe its to do with copyright and who owns it.
And it was all done "in the best possible taste"

Too right. Good old Sid Snot. :-)
Some of us are old enough to remember him on radio (pirate radio!) before he was a TV star.

He was indeed a brilliant one-off.

Unlike most DJs who are given a set of songs to play and just have bland chatter between each song, Kenny chose all the songs he liked, and had interesting and unusual "chat" and comedy routines between songs.

Like you retrocop I used to love his humour, very Monty Python like (who were influenced by Milligan of course) and I have always loved that wacky type of humour.

I remember on radio many years ago him playing Beatles songs (he loved the Beatles) but he sometimes used to turn down one side of the Stereo.

In the early Beatles songs the stereo was poor and I remember on All My Loving it was guitar on one side and vocal on the other. If you turned down the vocal side all you got was the guitar. That is the sort of unusual things he would do.

Of course he was his own worst enemy and would not bow down to authority and it got him sacked a few times.

I seem to remember the BBC sacked him because the radio news said the wife of the Minister of Transport had passed her driving test and after the news Kenny made a joke suggestion that she had bribed the instructor. So the BBC sacked him.

We could do with him today to cheer us all up.
I adore KE - as much for his technical genius as the humour, and the combination of the two was at times breath taking.

He was far too much of a maverick for the staid and stuffy Establishment, and all the more valuable for that - I too would welcome repeats of his work.
He was a bit too OTT for me. I prefer more subtle humour: Chris Morris for example.
But a talent sadly missed, I agree.
I don't think Hot Gossip would get through the censors now:-(
Anyone got a link?
I could never stand him - mind you I don't seem to have any sense of humour at all

Yes. I can empathise with him on that point. :-)
He was OK......I suppose. Bit weird, wacky, whatever the phrase happens to be. Not in the same league as Freddie Starr or Benny Hill.
//He was far too much of a maverick for the staid and stuffy Establishment,//

Oh sorry - I thought you meant the well known tory supporter Kenny Everett
"Let's kick Michael Foot's stick away" was either a shameless dig at the elderly at a Nuremburg rally, or a brilliantly subtle way of trying to satirise his politcal paymasters on the eve of LoadsaMoney Britain.

A one-off ...
He was a little bit before my time, but clips I've seen of him didn't impress me.
Or a turn off
He was a Cupid Stunt!
Good grief ^
