Shetland Bbc1, Help Please.

First time I have watched it, and it was good, but don't know who is who.

At the beginning at the airport, the detective was saying goodbye to his daughter, and he hugged another women with a guy, who were they?

He had a heated discussion with another guy (not a suspect) about making a decision, who was that please?

At the airport was his ex wife and his best friend who lives with the ex wife!

I believe they were work colleagues. The woman was his boss and a fellow detective.

The Woman at the airport who hugged the daughter is his Boss, seen later in the police station. The othe m an is his daughters natural father, Perez (the detective is her stepfather.

To make things a bit clearer, Perez wife died and the first series started with him moving back to Shetland so that his step daughter could be closer to her dad.

I was a bit confused about the girl as I couldn't remember from the previous series. In the books, she is the daughter of his dead girl-friend who Perez was bringing up, the girl's father being the man he spoke sharply to, a bit of a local playboy.
