Further to a recent question about the legality of showing Sky in pubs.  Is it possible someone could point me in the right direction to get clarification.  Is it illegal to show Sky broadcasts even though you don't subscribe to Sky i.e. by using one of those systems that broadcasts from abroad.  I'm not only talking about Satruday afternoon games but all programmes

If you are not using the Sky platform it is still illegal to show a live FA football match at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. Sky prosecute on behalf of the FA through copyright infringement. Any other time of the week is OK oddly enough, but not 3pm on a Sat. The FA's arguement is that showing live football matches at this time will reduce the attendance of all the other matches taking place at that time. Basically the lower leagues.

Thanks for this - much clearer now.  Really appreciate it.

this would also be covered under the PRS - performing rights Society which if you have any sort of entertainment in a public house, they will need.
