Always enjoyed his documentary's you can learn so much, and last nights part one was no exception.

I never knew that Crete went through so much in World War 2 from the Germans, there's more unregistered guns than people, and if you defecate their flag, you will die, and that's from the Holy Priests mouth, who carry's a gun on his hip.

In Athens there's a tax on residential swimming pools, so the people just hide them with Astro Turf, and at the new railway station people are trusted to buy tickets, so you can imagine how many don't!

We recorded it last night and have JUST watched it. As you say, there's always much to learn...how about the fact that Greece recycles less than any other civilised country (only 20%), and (consequently) has the world's largest landfill site.....and wasn't it a sight?
It seems to be a chaotic country. A bit like Malta with all the half-built buildings.

trt - did you write the wrong word in this sentence I do hope that you mean deface.

I watched this earlier today. I go to Zakynthos quite regularly, so have got to know a fair few locals over time. They all speak of their hate of Germans. They have rules of their own, and most are tax dodgers. If they see a loophole, they will use it! Some of the craftiness makes me chuckle, although I can see why the country is in such a pickle!
I'm sorry I missed this. His series on the Caribbean and also Australia were excellent viewing.
I guess trt meant desecrate :-)
Prudie...repeated tomorrow (Tues) 11.15pm BBC2
....SORRY....tonight, not Tues!!!
Many thanks gingebee, I've recorded it

## I guess trt meant desecrate :-) ##

Yes, that's what I meant.

Another sad part of it, is when he gave a lift to a Syrian Mother & 2 of her daughters walking in the heat to a town, as one of them said she thought she was dying.
When he arrived at the town, her male family members were outraged that they had got in his 4x4, without a male family member. Strange they didnt stay with them to help.

How sad, looks like its better to die than upset the family & religion?
