Just wondering if any of you have watched this. Have seen a few episodes and think it's rather gruesome for afternoon viewing. What do you think?

Not at all.
Watched every episode at least once and love it, along with the other afternoon dramas the Beeb show, such as WPC 56 and The Coroner.

'Not at all.'

Jackdaw, do you mean you have never watched it or you don't think it's gruesome?
Not seen any recently but I always enjoyed them, I did not find them gruesome.
I love it, too good for the afternoon. I think it should be in the evening so more can see it. A lovely gentle programme.
There is no reason for afternoon drama to be less gruesome than drama shown at 8pm.
My puzzle is why such gems are hidden away in the afternoon schedules.
I have watched it and I don't think it's gruesome. only retired/unemployed people should be watching TV at that time, not kids.
I agree, WPC56 and the Coroner were excellent programmes as well. Brilliant programmes for the afternoon so I record and watch in the evening. Mor British Dramas like these please.
utterly brilliant, wasn’t too shot onThe Coroner but WPC56 was brilliant too.
I'd love more Blandings, too. Totally bonkers but I loved it
Pass ,not convincing .
I think it's really well done, and deserves a bigger audience - sometimes it's repeated at six o'clock on BBC2. Shot around Blockley and Moreton-in-Marsh, and the cricket match the other day ('The Last Man') was shot at Stanway CC, in the grounds of Stanway House. Recognised the lovely thatched pavilion - I've played there!

Gosh, I must be the only one! Glad I don't live in his Parish as someone gets killed every other day! He's quicker than Columbo at solving clues.
I do know what you mean, though, ellie. Some of the scenes do make me sit up - I remember one episode where a sex scene was quite near the knuckle.

I thought today's, where a dead man was manacled in the cupboard was shocking.
Ah yes, I remember that one.
I love Father Brown, it's a feel good "sit down with a cuppa" show.
for me this is unmissable. Mark Williams is completely believable. And I agree with another poster, this programme should be on durinf prime time....but then I suppose if they put it on then it may become more explicit and I really like its gentleness and light humour.

this is the BBC at its best.
What is one supposed to watch in the afternoon?
At the races ,has got every thing ,excitement ,winners ,losers also rans colourful attire wonderful commentators not like the awful football pundits saying the obvious and Matt Chapman
