Certain People On Quizzes
52 Answers
I often watch quizzes, and some people say, when asked " this is not my area of knowledge", when previously in the quiz they have not answered any questions correctly with the same reply. Does this mean that the have no area of knowledge? So why do they go on quizzes? Just having a moan.

I shall never forget one of the rare episodes or Eggheads that I watched.
Jeremy: Which was the first of the Road to... series starring Bob Hope and Bing Crosby?
Cocky old git: (starts singing)...like Webster's dictionary we're morocco bound...It's the Road to Morocco, Jeremy.
Jeremy: No, it isn't.
His face was a picture.

I did fifteen to one when I was first ill 1999
( day time tel was a bit tedious and I thought I could do better )
one other was a Latinist and there was an astrophysicist who had to repeat a year as he was too busy doing pub quizzes and the rest were the usual jumble of bank managers and telephone sanitisers....
Mastermind - you have your fave specialist subject and if you are invited back then you have to choose another
which accounts for some of the players seeming to know bagger all about their specialist subjects
and then in the final you can go back to your real one
I have been reserve for university cock up no less than four times !
( 1972, 2000 ( O.U.) 2005 professionals, 2014 old baggers ) we caned them in the 2014 series and my old college invited us back for a free dindins....too ill to go and too far....
you should swat a dictionary for these - 1972 Pears encyclopedia and 2005 - I did four small dictionaries - biog, modern history, words and a fourth
yeah you should read them from end to end. It is pretty boring stuff.
in the last one - someone in the audience gasped - god the reserves know all the answers .....
The old rule in the seventies was that the students union got £200 for every round competed ( so you still got £200 if you lost and were knocked out ) - with Bamber Grassgroin yeah I am that old - so we ( the junior common room for young gentlemen- please ) netted £600 which is nearer £6000 nowadays
fifteen to one you get a stewart thingey tee shirt ( I didnt get one )
oh and you are limited to three per year .....
