I caught 2 mins at the end of the second episode. Evans unnecessary shouting and gesticulating made me realise how sensible it was not to even try it. I cannot see why he is so popular, I can't stand his voice or his presentation style. Jeremy Clarkson made Top Gear. He's a prat but he still made the programme work!
Not really.

What the BBC have failed to grasp - heaven knows why because anyone who knows anything about television viewing - like me for instance, can see it, is that it is not Top Gear that is popular.

It is Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond, and the other numpty, that made it the programme it was.

The BBC, seeing £ signs vanishing over the horizon, took a skewed look at things and concluded that 'Top Gear' is the show that will work, no matter who runs it, and of course, that is patently barmy.

It's not Doctor Who - where you have a concept of changing faces in place for the last fifty years - its a programme that is far more than just a format that you can bolt Chris Evans onto and watch the viewing figures sale into the stratosphere.

BTW, my conclusion is not based on comparison of either version, before or after Clarkson - I don't watch the nonsensical waste of money, it's Last Of The Summer Wine with cars - men messing about like small boys - but the truth anyone with a bit of experience of TV could see is coming to fruition - Top Gear has gone, and putting its name over a pale imitation with new people is never going to bring it back.

A second series? I seriously doubt it!!!
TV land keeps falling for legends in their own minds, Evans is the loudest, pushiest and most grating of the bunch.
His time has come and gone, as will this Top Gear.
We watched it just to see if they could make two consecutively bad episodes, and they managed it with no problem at all.
TTT poses the question whether it is time to get Clarkson and friends back.
No BBC, you missed that opportunity when as I recall a million of us told you to keep him. Fine him, bollock him, reprimand him BUT keep them. The ship, my friends has sailed.
No, don't get Jezza back, it was a tired show and the presenters had done their time.

However Evans is the wrong man.
Maybe the spark plug failed?
