The Good Old Days

Just noticed in the TV guide that The Good Old Days presented by Leonard Sachs from the stage of the City Varieties Theatre in Leeds is on BBC4 at 8pm tonight. Originally shown on 17/01/75 and Ken Dodd is on the bill. Used to love watching this show. Might give it a look just for old times sake.

Is that the programme where the audience used to dress up in Victorian clothes? I remember my parents watching that.

Its been on for several weeks now and always enjoyable to watch! I suppose us "old ones" can remember the old songs (and the jokes) There are some cracking acts performing - the Norwegian magician last night was superb!

Disappointed with Ken Dodd's performance, didn't think he was as funny as usual, still a fan though !

I hated this programme, I associate it with being left alone in the house as a child while my mother went out (something that would be unacceptable today) and it being the only thing on TV.

I remember Roy Hudd appearing on it. He really seemed at home.

Yes he does jambutty - first saw him live in Scarborough many, many years ago, then in Llandudno. Really looking forward to his show.

I saw Ken Dodd live about 3 years ago and he was so bad I walked out after an hour. He was mumbling and kept moving away from the mic so we couldn't hear him. I was dreadfully disappointed.

I remember seeing these shows back whenever, and have seen repeats of them recently. They are the most unfunny things I've ever seen.

The first time I saw Ken Dodd, I was laughing hysterically; the second time I was thinking "Will I get out in time to catch the train?" Never again.

I seen Ken Dodd in Corby a few year ago and it went on do long, rows of folk were leaving about an hour before it ended presumably because they had a coach to catch. Wouldn't say it was a brilliant night but.
