Tv Magic Show Act
6 Answers
Many years ago (Sixties or Seventies), I saw a TV magic show featuring Tommy Cooper or David Nixon (I think), that had a guest illusionist featured. The illusionist's act consisted of him controlling what purported to be a human robot on stage via what looked like a remote control. The robot would move its arms, head and walk around as the illusionist pushed the buttons on the controller.
The act concluded with the robot going haywire, walking over to the illusionist and promptly removing the illusionists head from his shoulders to the amazement of the audience. The whole thing was extremely well done given the era concerned.
I can't find a clip of the act anywhere on YouTube and I'm not absolutely certain if it was a Cooper or Nixon show. I can't think of any other TV magicians from around the same era unfortunately and I'm not certain if it was black and white or colour.
Has anyone any suggestions about this?
Thank you.

The act was very similar to the link Chinajan but I've a feeling it was a few years before that when I first saw it - I hadn't even reached my teenage years at the time and it frightened the hell out of me! Nevertheless, I'm very grateful as it gives me a starting point to look into it further. Thank you.

I saw that one as well, and I've looked for it a time or two. I remember seeing it in colour, one Sunday afternoon, but it was a show featuring magic acts from all over the world, it wasn't the Tommy Cooper or David Nixon show. I remember the gasp that went up from the audience as the "robot" pulled the "scientists" head off. I bet it's on the internet somewhere.
