For me it was a crap end to a crap and pretentious series. All those shouts of Mari and she didn't appear - what do you think happened....cos it sure as heck wasn't clear?

I thought it was interesting that the two women who accused Finchley were constantly addressed by their first names by the defence lawyer when they were giving evidence, and that neither Paul or Karl's names or surnames were used.
Regarding the women it gave the impression that they weren't really to be taken seriously, that despite the fact they were mature women, addressing them by first names only suggested that they were young and immature and that their stories weren't true.
got off in court but received moral justice when his wife left him in the end... I enjoyed it..very dark stuff and a brave role for Coltrane to take on...
Mesmerising piece of television. Of course he was guilty, we saw his younger self carrying out the attacks on the two women who got ripped to shreds in court. They grey area is his daughter and we are left to wonder about that. Karl didn't go off with Marie as someone on here thought as he was still in the house at the end, after Marie had left. The only bit I didn't think was right was Marie sleeping with Karl. I don't know why she did it unless it was to gain information, and she did try. He kept his mouth shut at the trial though. Very uncomfortable watching at times but what a treat from two remarkable actors.
I think she slept with him for information. Re the daughter, I'd say he did abuse her ?.
I was a little disappointed with the ending, till I thought about it more, and realising that she left him because she knew in her heart he was guilty.

## I know this is a drama, but it does reflect an attitude in society, that women and girls do 'throw themselves' at celebrities - ##

It is not only Celebs that women throw themselves at Andy, some make a move on men with higher positions at work places, like supervisors, managers, even security staff, and I can confirm 100% babysitters!!!!
One might note that it isn't unusual for women to be extended the courtesy of being referred to by their christian name in our society whilst men are denied the same. It has little to do with seriousness or immaturity and all to do with common preferential discrimination on how folk are treated differently.
Could have anne, certainly the daughter knew what he was because she saw him making a move on the babysitter. Knowing your father could do that would be enough to screw you up wouldn't it, let alone if he had also abused you.
Jimmy saville there I said it
