Seriously, are they just absolutely rubbish or is there some fiendish plot to drive us insane?

massively touching wood as i speak but have never had a problem with them.
If you're talking about B.T......I haven't had any need of any of their services for many years. Perhaps it's time for you to use an alternative?
Alternatives don't offer a quarterly bill.
urrgghh i believe the latter after my experience with them a few years ago ...
BT and Open Reach are dirty words in our family!

Thanks all. Am up now and ready to start a new day and another attempt to get a replacement BT box.
Previously ordered, confirmed etc. And then told by the person I spoke to yesterday, after waiting more than a week, that no order was placed.
Despite what some say, I find Talk talk good.
Agree with hopkirk rather be with talk talk than BT I know the trouble both my neighbours have had with BT
I'm with TalkTalk, after a couple of wee initial niggles, quickly rectified, no problems at all. I've no wish to change.
Have had no problems with plus net, but unfortunately all the other companies are reliant on OpenReach which is BT!
NellieMay - Plusnet are part of the BT group, and are just as reliant on Openreach as any other ISP.
No it is bad idea for you
4candles, that is I was trying to say. But plus net are much more user friendly to deal with. My son is involved in installing networks and swears about Open Reach. They hamper him in his work!!
Unless you have your phone line through a cable, ie Virgin, you are with BT whether you like it or not, as only BT provides phone lines.

If its a line problem, than it will effect most other ISP's.

Its unusual to see TalkTalk being praised though !
Don't EVER go with Vodaphone instead.

If you do, you'll very soon appreciate BT, honest!
Dead right Mikey. You said it much better than I did!
Nellie....I had a problem about a year ago with my BT 'net connection, and I must admit that it took a few days to fix it.

I am an ex-BT Engineer and was able to find out some important info, and the fault was in the exchange, as I thought ! It did take a day or two to persuade the wee man in India but in the end I managed it !

I have heard good things said about Plusnet, and most people I meet that have Virgin cable seem to be very pleased. But Virgin is only available to a small number of telephone subscribers and those living in rural areas will probably never have cable.

Its surprising how many people think that when they are with Sky, the internet connection comes through the dish !!
I wouldn't change from Plusnet. They do their best considering they rely on OpenReach, and at least they are based in the UK and you can talk to people who know what they are doing.
