The burglar wasn't after money - Morse found cash for Joan - so it must have been the spooks from the fast breeder reactor.
Either the local scallys, flagged earlier, therefore a red herring, or the dark forces of the state protecting the nuclear industry.
I thought it was a red herring to give Thursday the chance to find Joan's address.
Ah good point, Carole.
I was thinking along the same lines as jomlett or Bunthorne but I think carolegif has it - good thinking.
The writer of Endeavour had a Q/A on twitter yesterday and told who broke in, but no mention of the excellent plot device that Carole raised...

@EndeavourTV so who burgled the flat? Love the show, glad to get 6 more #Endeavour

It was the burglars from the Oxpens area mentioned by Thursday and Bright mentioned in the first scene together. - RL

Can I please take this opportunity to ask you Endeavour fans a question that has bugged me, since the ending of the previous showing.
I was under the impression that the Chief Superintendent had been killed, but he appeared in this weeks episode alive and kicking.

Who was it then that was buried at the end of the previous episode, since I missed part of it.

Thanks Mam but it is no clearer now, I didn't think it was Terence Bakewell, because They comforted the dead person's wife and went along to the funeral.

Can't see them doing that for a criminal.

Didn't Bryce-Morgan die as well? He wasn't in bed 10 but wasn't he the father of someone Morse was engaged to at one time and Morse met his wife (sullen so-and-so who didn't like Morse) in the hospital. I think that might have been the funeral they were showing but I can't remember exactly.

Thanks, something like that does ring a bell, but with the superintendent getting injured I thought it was his funeral and his wife who they were consoling.
Sorry, wrong info there.
It was, as big481 says, Bryce-Morgan and after Mrs Bryce-Morgan told Morse he wasn't good enough for her daughter, they showed Morse watching the funeral from a distance as we only saw a side view of Susan.
Thank you, I think that explains everything.
