We really enjoy this series, but it was a bit unrealistic last night. According to the RT that hotel costs from 179£ a night. Not many people could retire there

That's £65335 per year!
...maybe you get a discount if you reside there?
look at the folk who live in the Savoy or the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.....Have an Aunt who thought about a suite-cottage at the Bear in Woodstock.....given that Homes can cost a lot northwards of £1000 a week, negotiated hotel rates can be a steal.
If you need to go in a Residential Home you probably need care. Hotels don't provide that, so it's an extra cost.
well yes room service is as well as laundry, but your room and bathroom is cleaned every day, fresh sheets, towels and, in some better establishments, free fruit, flowers and choccies.
and if you need the care, it's north of £1500 a week and nearer London £1800 - ask pixie....
They won't be living/retiring at the hotel.Like series 1 they will be looking at (what seems cheap)property prices in Kerala.
"that hotel" isn't a hotel....they are sharing a house. And...I can't see any mention of the cost in Radio Times....
Perhaps a little explanation....in real life, the location IS a hotel costing £179 per night. But for the purposes of this programme, they are sharing a house which would cost considerably less to rent ( a three bed house in that location would cost about £30 a week).
Fact and fiction blurring the reality imo.
.that's my whole pension for a month!
