I heard about this photographer who persuaded 110 women from his hometown Plymouth to pose nude for a forthcoming self-published book: https://www.photographybyjojo.org/ Apparently they're "arty" photos, though they don't look very arty to me...or particularly good. I do not understand why any women would let a middle-aged male photographer, who is also a stranger to them, into their home to picture them starkers in the name of art. Are people so desperate for attention, for what they may regard as a bit of immortality?

Strikes me that any middle aged man no longer able to persuade young women to take their clothes off for him, without having to pay for the pleasure, can now set himself up as an arty photographer and concoct a project like this, justifying him then having countless images of naked women on us computer

Nothing to do with exploitation. Completely the opposite. Not conforming to how people expect you to behave and embracing the fact that you're only here once.
237SJ I can assure you I have no issues. I got naked for art. If you only see sexuality in the naked form that is your perspective and I wouldn't expect you to understand.
Would you classify the model who posed for the Venus de Milo or any of Picasso's muses as just some exhibitionist woman wanting to get her kit off or an exploited mouse? I doubt it.
I think people who don't understand the beauty of nudity are the ones who have the issues.
Nudity is the natural form of a mammal. I am a mammal. Why should I hide that?
Well, at least the photographer doesn't just want to take pictures of naked women. He also wants to photograph single mothers and their kids and close up facial pictures of people who have tried to commit suicide. At least he is inclusive!
None of these people are being forced into it. Either open your mind or ignore it. Don't be that idiot that complains to the authorities about a man wearing high heels in an advert
Moi? I love the moneysupermarket ad with the bloke in the denim shorts and high heels. Always makes me laugh - especially when Sharon Osborne appears with her little dog.
Click the link and scroll down past coming up>next exhibition>get involved>contact me to a large photo on the right and tell me that's not Pat Phelan from Coronation Street

One needs justification ?!
I absolutely hate being naked and I don't know why as I have no body issues whatsoever....but completely understand why people would pose naked for photos. It's bringing normality back to the human body.
I see nothing wrong with it at all if anyone want's to pose nude for a photograph.
I find it interesting that its OK if its in the name of art and the choice of those posing, and yet when a woman wants to get her tits out on page 3, we hear lots of nonsense from 'wimmin' complaining about subjugation, exploitation, and the newest, and possibly most pathetic term of all, body-shaming (which usually means "I'm fat and ugly, and I don't like it that you're slim and pretty").

Given that art is subjective, I'd like to argue that Page 3 has just as much artistic merit as the art in the question's link.
I quite agree. Page three girls do it because they want to and are proud of their body. What's wrong with that?

The old saying; if you've got it, flaunt it!
And other people do it because their bodies have flaws and that's completely normal too.
Indeed it is ummmm.

I was nude once persuaded to pose for an art class, all women. I was much younger and the body was in very good shape.

It's interesting that the above statement gets best answer, when I'm sure both the author of it, and the OP know nothing about the photographer in question. Instead they are quick to pull out the "dirty old man who can't get a girl" excuse. A somewhat warped view of motives...
Jojo is well known in the Plymouth arts scene, and has been photographing the locals...of all ages and sexes for several decades...as reflected in this BBC article from almost 20 years ago.

As for Page 3 girls...my knowledge is limited, having arrived in the UK in 1989 when they were becoming less popular.....I always thought their purpose was to expressly titillate with the focus on one part of the body.
pastafreak my answer makes no reference to "the photographer in question"
I do not know him, I've never heard of him, so I do not judge him
nooooooo..much too chilly....can I keep my socks on ?
Nope...
on what, minty?
