When The Matrix came out there was talk of a preceding film starring Michael Douglas which may/may not have influenced The Matrix, apparently it dealt with the illusion of reality theme. Any one know what it was??

Most likely possibility is The Game - fantastic David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) film spoilt only by a cop-out ending, in which Douglas's character embarks on a huge 'game of life' in which he's never quite sure what's real and what's part of the game.

Disclosure featured a bizarre virtual reality machine thing, though it wasn't really key to the plot.

Thought it was something else other than The Game (which I have seen). Had a squizz on IMDB but none of his other films seem to answer my question perhaps I am misremembering. Thanks Anyway
