Nice is not the word I'd use to describe what happened under the Nazi regime, but it is a very good film and well worth watching. Also hoping to catch The Imitation Game on afterwards at 9pm as missed it when it came out.

Yes agree, swap nice for good!
Hope you enjoyed watching it again, Eleena. Makes a change to have something decent to watch on a Saturday night! :)
I found this film pretty terrible TBH
a few reviews on imdb are in agreement

I suppose the difficulty is that I knew more than the kids in the film
( My father was involuntarily in Germany 1940-5 post Dunkirk)
So I dont need to learn about wartime Germany from a childs pt of view. So a cute girl saying to a Jew " eef you are farry goot - you will nart go to concentration camp" is just stupid. ( "yes I will" he says - because it is necessary to show these things are not voluntary)
Dad intervening in arrest of a Jew was suicidal - and dangerous for the family. - the blackout was crip - shouting I hate Hitler
the whole thing was incredible

do the imitation game
Sorry, off track a bit here but i wanted to catch PP's attention- I wondered if Peter Pedant had seen these History threads as he is very knowledgeable about so many things and may be able to help this guy who is asking a lot of fascinating questions but getting very little feedback

Didn't watch the film but loved the book.
I too loved the book maggiebee, one of my favourites in a sad sort of way. Cried buckets when I finished it.The film was good but nowhere near as good as the book.
