as of today i am drinking 2.5 litres of water a day (dont think i have been even drinking a litre), no alcohol over than saturdays and even then i have to have a water in between every alcoholic drink.

i am running three times a week... admittedly not far at the moment but slowly building it up (before i was doing very little exercise).

my aim is to lose two stone but if i aim for 2lb a week i could easily lose a stone by xmas couldnt i???

also i am going to stop all snacking at work (its the only time i do pick on rubbish)

Don;t forget to actualy eat sensible meals in between all that water too.

I found that simple things like not having sugar in tea and coffeee helps a bit too.

i eat 3 meals aday including forcing myself to eat some breakfast.

i dont drink tea or coffee or things like coke etc either so thats not really a problem

Hi LittleMissX.  Sounds like a good plan - esp. cutting the alcohol - I lost quite a bit of weight by running over the last year, but over the summer had gradually ended up drinking at least one glass of wine every night and put a bit of weight back on as a result - I'm amazed at the difference a glass of wine makes to weight loss! 

I'd not aim for 2.5 litres of water a day though, especially if you feel you are drinking even when you don't feel like it.  It can even be dangerous to drink this much, especially if you are running (and therefore sweating and losing salts) - you can dilute your electolyes too much.  I have read quite a few articles about the water myth (ie drink as much as poss) recently, esp in the context of exercising.  I'd just substitute water for what you'd normally drink in a day.

Maybe have alternate snacks at work such as crackers/a piece of fruit/yoghurt? It will be good to have something on stand by if you ever are tempted, and you will need the energy if you are going to do a decent run. 

Running, or exercising, at about 65% of your Max Heart Rate is what's called 'the fat burning zone'. This is what you should be aiming for.

Good luck Lilmiss, it looks like a good plan, ive always been told to have 2 litres of water a day so i take one of those bottle to work with the sucky thing on the top and put squash in to make it more interesting i find i drink loads more like this rather than out of a cup.

Time was thart the AB Editor would come in with a consult your doctor message right about now but AB is too busy discussing War in the news section so i'll give that warning myself.

Littlemiss, Visit your doctor before starting any weight loss program. That said, getting rid of the booze is a great idea. Alcohol not only contains loads of calories but also slows down the metabolism. If you want to lose weight, exercise, exercise, exercise. If you use up more calories than you put in, you will lose weight. On the water front, here is a good link:

strict control of your calorie intake is as important as the exercise you are doing. you need to eat a 100 calories less that you burn up to lose 1lb a week in weight. but don't forget the exercise you are doing will build up your muscles and muscle weighs more than fat so your weight may stabilise.
