I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but can anyone explain why we are playing as the British and Irish Lions, when we normally play rugby union as separate nations of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and ROI?

I am following this game only by keeping an eye on the BBC headlines, but it seems to me that this is one humdinger of a game !

( by the way...when did "sin bins" become part of the modern Rugby game ? ....never heard of that in my younger days ? )

It's been a tradition for about 100 years, jo. Just became a way for the best of the North to play the best of the South. Cycles through South Africa, Australia and NZ with one tour every four years.

And Sin bins have been around since 2001, Mikey.

Actually it started in Australia, but never mind. It's a great way of ensuring that foul play is properly penalised, no?
