It doesn't make sense to me because Michelle gave him and Maria a lift then had a drink on her own so Maria was with him when it happened then they were together the next day so I assumed they were together from the night before. Am I losing the plot?!!

Michelle dropped them off at that Bar, had a drink there and left her glass of wine on the bar to go to the ladies. She asked the barman to keep an eye on her drink. She came in with them so the barman wouldn't think it strange if Will came back to the bar looking for Michelle....

Yes I thought that I had seen him before, who was he, when he first appeared?

He's the one for whom Michelle was acting as a wedding planner, and then I think something happened or nearly happenend between him and Michelle

Oh, he had been Michelle's boyfriend some years earlier too. When Michelle was acting as teh wedding planner the two became close again and nearly slept together but Michelle had a last minute change of heart in the bedroom
