Great, I used to find it hard to follow some of the plots, largely because I got absorbed by those marvellous faded old interiors. I thought the clownish assistant in the office was a bit over the top though.
No, this one last night was a new series with the original actors it was rather laughable. I couldn't watch for long, Mimi the ladies man looked like death warmed up and his 'young' assistant looked old with dyed jet-black hair. Mantalbano himself has aged pretty well, a bit fatter but he still had his body shape.
Did anyone watch it ?
I watched it.I love Montalbano and have read all the books which come over pretty well in the televised version.Caterella is just as comical in the books as he is on screen.
You are right though in the fact that Mimi and Fazio are not ageing as well as him!
Luca Zingaretti is a good actor though, not just in film and television but theatre as well.He was brilliant in the films Cefalonia and as the magistrate Borsellino who was gunned down by the mafia in 57 Days.
When Livia lay across the bed and he whipped off her jeans and proceeded to fall on top of her, I thought, OMG ring, telephone ring, and of course, as always, it did. Some things don't change :0)
I gave up watching a couple of series ago, but thought I would try it again last night. Sorry to say it was switched off after about half an hour. Don't know what it is about it, but it didn't hold my interest at all. I watch all the other BBC 4 dramas which are from abroad, and also the ones on More4 but this one isn't for me.
