Anybody had the misfortune of seeing this hosted by Paddy Mc Guinness tribute acts, tuned in while making meal hoping for some Saturday evening entertainment!!!

I thought this might be quite good an managed to catch the last half of the programme. It seemed very chaotic- lots of lookalikes who weren't involved in the performances, very rushed, the jumping from the clips of the performers to those of the people they were imitating. Little FIx sounded dire to me and the Amy Winehouse act sounded better and deserved more to go through. The duets was then confusing with Dolly Parton singing a George Michael song.

As it finished mrs FF and I agreed we wouldn't bother watching this series again and deleted the recording of the first half of the show.

Was it worse than Len's rhyming show though-probably not

FF has used the very word to describe the show - 'Chaotic' which is a shame really as there were a few good acts along with those you'd see down the pub.

I think Paddy handled it well, can't have been easy at times.

I've just noticed it was one-off. Just as well really. Although you have to wonder why they bothered. I don't understand why the BBC wastes its/our money on things like this

I would guess that they are trying this our, and if the reception is good, they will go for a series.

I didn't watch it, I don't like 'tribute acts because I think the term is a misnomer.

If you are truly 'paying tribute' to an artist or artists, then you would do so for free.

If you are charging an audience to see your 'tribute', then you are actually piggybacking off the talent and success of someone else by merely imitating them, which is not in and of itself creative art worthy of payment and respect.

Absolutely - and like some terms in your list - it brings a massive and popular subsidiary industry trailing along in its wake.

Personally, just because I can't see this band or that band does not mean that I want to see strangers dressed up as them playing their songs.

If it's a Rembrandt painted by Phil Bloggs who dabbles a bit, then it is not a Rembrandt, and not worth looking at as though it is.

I wouldn't watch this tv programme, but do like some tributes. I loved the Carole King and The Kinks musicals.
I was looking at the Meatloaf one, but it cost about £300 per seat. I'd expect to pay much less to see the man himself.
