Hated it, all his songs sounded the same and his falsetto really grates after one or two songs.
Well done on the weight loss tho eh?
I think Mr Smith as an example of modern pop music - he has absolutely nothing interesting in either his persona, his visual image, or his voice, he is the equivalent of vocal lift music.

That said, millions of people love exactly that - they don't want anything that does anything except entertain them in a 'don't-really-have-to-pay-attention way, so there is a lucrative career to be had presenting that style of image and music.

In a country of sixty-five million people, if sixty-four million of them think you stink, but the other million buy your records, then you are winning.
I thought Coldplay had cornered that market Andy.
Zacs - Sadly, the market is wide open, and new members appear every day - but your point is well made, and well received!
Recorded it.
Ha. Cheers. God save us from a music industry where artists like Coldplay are considered to be what the people want.

Or perhaps, god save us from people who think that bands like them are entertaining. Jesus.

He gave a very frank interview and he seemed very friendly but rather short of confidence.

But for some people they are - and amen to choice.
Oh, I do love it when people become SO superior over other peoples' choice of music.
Didn't see the programme but my grandaughter loved it. The music is of its time - not aimed at the old farts on here. Each generation to his own - I know I moan about "modern" music, but my parents moaned about Elvis, the Beatles, Stones etc.
gingejbee - // Oh, I do love it when people become SO superior over other peoples' choice of music. //

I don't believe my post was 'superior' - I fully accept differences in taste, and would never dream of looking down on someone for liking something that I don't like myself.
Sorry, andy, for not signposting my comment...it was aimed at another! I know that you, like me, accept others' choices...you may not like something but understand that we all have different tastes.
No problem gingejbee - thanks for clarifying.
