ive never watch good morning britain before as been at work, i thought it very odd that Piers Morgan all the time he was on camera only glanced briefly at his co-presenter, staring into the camera otherwise his co-presenter when talking to him looked at him when doing so he never responded by looking back, just weird,

Erik...listen to "The Today Programme".....the pictures are better !
he's weird, never could understand how he got to be so popular on the tv, or is he?
I don't think many people like him. He's always the butt of jokes about 'The Worst Person in the World' or similar. I suppose he must be a very good journalist. I don't know tbh, I don't watch the programme, and didn't read any papers he was editor of.
He may be annoying, but the viewing figures suggest he is doing something right.
He isn't staring into the camera, he is staring at the screen in front of it which contains the script he is reading.

Reading a script while appearing to be talking spontaneously is a skill all experienced live tv presenters learn - it does explain why Mr Morgan appears to be ignoring his colleague.

In addition, all people on the studio floor hear all instructions for all the team through their earpieces. This means that Mr Morgan will hear instructions to the camera crew, the production staff, his fellow presenters and so on.

This means that he has to not only screen out messages that are not for him, he has to be sure he picks up messages that are for him, while all the time talking fluently and naturally while reading a script.

Some people look more natural than others doing this - I don't watch the show, but it appears that maybe Mr Morgan is not as natural as some others.
piers moron as we call him in the meedja
just goes on and on

we just as well rehearse history - the people's petition at the white house gathered 100 000 votes to deport him from America

the white house spokesman later sniffed
these are serious political times and petition are not to used as public amusement

and when they pulled his prog in Amerikee
Mikey n this very site quipped
it's the end of the Piers show !
piers morgan=smug ****
Well, I think he's the best thing to happen to British television in ages. GMB is totally riveting when he's on....and totally bland when he's not. His interviewing on there and his Life Stories is brilliant. I even enjoy his crime programmes...if enjoy is the right word. Knight the man!

i'm well aware how tv works too
erik2 - // i'm well aware how tv works too //

That was the information of casual readers who maybe don't have experience of live TV as I, and it seems you, do.

But if you know how TV works, then you should be able to answer your own question, and know that some presenters adapt to the demands of their job differently because they are all individuals, and settle into a style that suits them.
andy-hughes, //maybe don't have experience of live TV as I, and it seems you, do. //

What is your experience of live TV - other than as a member of an audience?
I`m sure I read in a recent autobiography that there is something that filters out the messages to other production staff so that the presenter doesn't hear it
237SJ, I think you're right. It would be impossible for them to present otherwise.

And to Naomi as well -

I have been in a number of TV studios when live TV is being presented, usually waiting for presenters or guest pop stars to finish and be interviewed.

I have been in control rooms as well - though never in a 'live' tv audience. My last time was in the late 80's, so things may have changed, but then, I was in the Anne (Diamond) and Nick (Owen) studio as they presented their live show, and it was as I described, with everyone getting all sound feeds.

When I asked Nick Owen why they didn't simply filter to the recipient, he confirmed that it was so fast-paced that there simply want time to switch feeds on and off, it was simpler for everyone to get everything, and let the recipient listen and pick it up.

As I said, it may have changed, or be different in different settings - I am always happy to be corrected - and to convince Naomi that I am not simply making things up, which would fit with her generally cynical and low opinion of me.

Didn't you go to watch Question Time or something like that once?
girls, boys, - can we play nicely on this cold evening ?

or as Jesus said once - little children, love one another.

( the Italian for this ( the NT quote ) is - " fanciulli - amatevi " )

Yeah - wandering a bit I apologise - but otherwise the alternative is more, much more of the Naomi-Andy Show of interiors of studios I may or may not have known.....
I don't watch Breakfast TV nor am I a big fan of Piers, but some of his head to head interviews have been good.

He seemed to know his subject and how to draw out good responses from those he interviewed.
Oh come on PP - anything's got to be better than the PeterPedant show! :o/
How can anyone watch TV in the morning? - go and read some poetry.
