Really don't think I'm going to like the upcoming story line. I watch soaps for a bit of light hearted entertainment, we all know awful things go on in the world, can't we escape them for a while?

Long gone are the hilarious story lines and one liners from the likes of Blanche, Fred Elliot, Bet and Alec Gilroy to name but a few. It's all got to be about misery and depression and raising 'awareness' of the latest 'issues'. Absolute load of rubbish.

Which story line are you referring to?
We've already had Phelan killinga few people who get in his way. Is it going to get worse? I really hoped Eileen was going to find Phelan's gun but it seems the story will drag on
Maybe you are referring to David Platt being attacked. I don't think I could watch that either.

Possible SPOILER so don't read on if you don't want to know. David Platt will apparently be the victim of a drug/male rape attack.
Yes, not something i want to see. I think they try too hard to bring in issues like this. We've had murders, drugs, racism , a disproportionate number of same sex relationships, doubts over the father of a child, and yet another wedding didn't go ahead at the altar last week- does the latter keep happening in real life as I have never seen it?
Think Phelan is going to get his comeuppance soon, the viewers are leaving as fast as the cast according to the papers. What would Ena say.......?
The old episodes from the 80s make a refreshing change. Classic Corrie on ITV3 weekday afternoons.

I stopped watching Corrie about three years ago, ditto Emmerdale, from what I read about them I don't think I've missed much. To keep the stories exactly as life is in real streets and villages would probably bore people to death but they both seem to have gone overboard.
Mmm didn't know that was coming up with David, not sure I'm going to like it either. However I am still a big fan of Corrie and doubt that I will ever abandon it. Can't wait for Phelan to get caught out.
Corrie still pulls in over 6.5m viewers each episode according to BARB's figures for the first week in January, similar to the first week in January 2017. The viewers don't seem to be leaving in droves.

Connor McIntyre who plays Pat Phelan has got a huge following on Twitter.
Not surprised,hc,when he goes the show will slowly go down the pan,Best Actor in the show for many a year.
Bet you it doesn't, Everhelpful. Corrie has very loyal fans
Just a thought - why don't you watch ITV3 in the afternoon. For Coronation Street - quite nostalgic - seeing all the old characters and the stories were believable.
What's the storyline at the moment, JJ?
I have just got onto it last week. I am talking really old Classic Coronation Street with Curly, Betty behind the bar who is a delight, Hilda and many others who are very young. Am not really looking for a story just the actors/actresses themselves. All so innocent too.
That was the decade of the evil Alan Bradley, Mike Baldwin married Susan Barlow and Gail doesn't know who the father is of her unborn child.
Not quite so innocent.
Checking RT, today's Vintage episode referenced Alf Roberts being depressed at losing his seat on the Council.
Thanks, Mamya. That left Audrey distraught, hmmmmm.

:D
Alf has had a heart attack probably brought on by the stress of losing his Council seat to Deirdre. Percy is running the Community centre and organizing tea-dances. Phyllis , Hilda,Ivy provide lots of laughs.
