Miriam Margolyes

Miriam Margolyes was touring America seeking out racism and discrimination and yet I feel she negated her efforts by labeling herself as a Jewish lesbian. I don't go around telling everyone I'm a heterosexual atheist.

i do like her but find she is a tad crude, i mean farting and then telling your host what you have done doesn't seem right imo

Hang on, let's put that "labelling herself" into context, shall we?
Pastor Mike Hallimore, leader of the Kingdom Identity Ministries, agreed to a meeting with a couple of members of the production team that were of - per the email he sent them - acceptable religious/racial/ethnic backgrounds (my words, but that's the gist of it).
Miriam, in the car on the way to the hotel where the meeting took place - "He doesn't like Jews - he thinks that we are Satanic - and... so he wouldn't meet me."
Waiting for him to arrive - "I do feel nervous, I feel upset. I mean, I read one of the pieces of literature that they put out, and they want to kill Jews. And not just Jews, but homosexuals. I'm a homosexual and I'm a Jew."
IMO, she was perfectly justified in explaining why the hard-of-thinking Pastor wouldn't meet her personally.
Across the 3 programmes, she showed herself to be an intelligent, compassionate, witty, forthright, down-to-earth person who wanted - and was willing to - learn.
I think it was a brilliant little series & she was marvellous throughout.
