I have only been watching Emmerdale for a short time but I have worked out most of the relationships. I wonder, however, if somebody could tell me about Jacob. Last night, he referred to Tracy as his step-mother. Who are his relations?

David Metcalfe was married to his (adoptive) mother Alicia.....his real mother being Layla.....thus David became his step-father. David has since married Tracy and thus she became his step-mother.

Thank you Jack. That would explain why Jacob didn't want Layla to relocate to Greece. I sense that another complication will be incorporated into the story in the coming months because instead of going to a convention for grocers, he went to Greece and ended up in bed with Layla.

Indeed, I think he and Tracey will be having probelsm with his current attitude about her and then leyla will return - possibly after David again!

Of course, he is keeping quiet about having gone to Greece and while Tracy's secret is "out" and they agreed to having no more lies or secrets, he is still keeping his secret to himself. It wouldn't be a soap if she didn't find out eventually, though!

And just to make the poor lad even more screwed up, his real mum (Leyla) and his adoptive mum (Alicia) are sisters.

With all the interbreeding in Emmerdale, in a couple of generations they'll be playing Blue Grass music as if they were in the Appalachians !
