I just wondered if that was why he hasn't been seen for a while.

I suppose he could just be getting old though

Yes he died earlier in the year. The writers decided that it had been long enough now to pay tribute to him on the show.

He died on 12th February aged 74.

Stan Richards, the actor who played Seth was written out for an extended period to recover form (I think) a heart attack, or bypass surgery - the character went to Australia. Sadly, he died, as advised, so they wrote his death into the plot-line.

He died earlier this year, but I think they're doing a special memorial type episode before or after tonights Emmerdale Thurs 3rd Nov.
