Ours was definitely among the better songs this year with its very catchy hook, SuRie performed it brilliantly and handled the stage invasion with enormous dignity and courage, yet we came 24th out of 26th. The U.K invests a lot of money in the Contest every year, yet for ages now our entry has got next to nil points. No doubt political voting and dislike of us because of Brexit will ensure that won’t change for a long time to come. So don’t you think we should just leave it altogether now?

Given the poltical voting it is entirely pointless for the UK to be a part of this competition. There are only two music powerhouses in the world, the UK and the USA, and as the USA don't compete, by rights we should be close to the top every year, and yet in 21 years we haven't even had a sniff of winning it. Some other countries occassionally produce decent acts,...

No - people love it. I find it really boring so don't watch but I know people who make an evening of it.

I do like her song but not sure how much the UK invests. He song is a hit, she'll be paying tax on that.

I think the UK were quite clever this year in releasing her song in advance.

Masses of people hate the U.K.....but masses of people either move here or are desperate to do so. Last night’s anti-British stage invader had a rucksack on his back, so Lord knows what could have happened. The Eurovision stage was invaded a few years, so why isn’t the stage and the artists better protected?
‘The U.K invests a lot of money in the Contest every year’
Does it?

Releasing it early did not gain us votes though. People can still enjoy the ESC if the U.K. is not in it. It would appear our contributions are not widely appreciated anyway

How do you think the U.K. gets straight into the final every year, while most other countries have to go through semi finals? Don’t tell me it’s cos we always have the best songs!
It didn't get votes but it got the UK public singing along because they new the song.
No
The UK is one of the 5 founding members, the BBC set it up 63 years ago along with 5 other broadcasters, they and the four get automatically through.

The continued inclusion of Australia makes a mockery of this Contest anyway. Last night’s lack of U.K. votes proved yet again it’s no longer a Song Contest as such
Why? It's not just European countries involved. It's about broadcasting.
Exactly Ummm its a common mistake made because its called the Eurovision that it is just the European union that is involved but its actually to do with the broadcasters hence the inclusion of Australia
It gives the most deluded a place to go for a couple of days.
It's turned into an animated 1980s, especially for the Eastern Europeans.

Even as I type I can almost feel lips pursing into that cat's exit chute look and a head of steam building up to 'Well, you don't have to watch it'.

Save yourself the time.
Well the UK's entry is getting lots of publicity.
We'd still finish near the bottom if it was Adele up there singing one of her finest.
Avoided this Eurovision contest like the plague for years.
Has changed for the better, as we watched it last night and enjoyed it.
We liked the German chap, although he did not win.
Last Years Portuguese winning Song was very good
I don't think Brexit should be associated with any song contest decision. Good taste and a desire for fair play should've ensured we withdrew from the competition years ago; but I suspect a love of farce and the ridiculous ensured that was always put off. If it still attracts viewers then let it be. Just make sure there's something worth watching on the other channels.
Arrods has nailed it so yes we should withdraw, we were the outsiders long long before Brexit.
Too much political voting.
Perhaps all enteries should be kept secret about which country they represent? That would be interesting!
