Long gone are the Smoke filled Cinemas of the past, thankfully.
It is still a great night out visiting the Cinema to view a great Film, possibly for a Meal and a Drink as well.
IMAX is the big thing especially for the Blockbusters.
However, Audiences have reduced considerably, due to Home Cinema Systems with large Screen TV's.
Do you prefer to stay at Home with the Family, watching DVD's in the peace and quiet of your Home.

I'm a stay at home Netflix and chill girl myself, not a massive cinema fan apart from the odd large group invasion night out. So much nicer to get everyone round, take away delivered, have some beers without a dessi driver and watch box sets or films til it gets light x

The last time I went to the pictures was to take my friend's 12-year-old son to see 'Fierce Creatures'. He's 32 now, so that should give you an indication of how much appeal cinemas hold for me.

On the fairly rare occasions that I watch films, it's likely to be watching DVDs of classic French cinema (such as Jacque Tati's masterpieces, the gems of François Truffaut, or more modern films such as Petit Nicolas or Les Visiteurs) or perhaps something from Eastern Europe or Bollywood. I find very little to interest me from the output of Hollywood or from recent British movies.

Yes kvalidir, like that idea myself. Netflix is good for some of the Box Sets. We use CEX if we need to see a particular Film on DVD

I like to see something on the big screen. You get the impact of it and the sound is better. Then if I like it, I watch it again at home some time later. The only thing I can't stand is the sound of people munching - I don't know why they have to stuff their faces when they watch a film.

The cost of Food and Drink at these Cinemas is ridiculous 237SJ. More than the Cinema Ticket itself. Have you seen the size of the Popcorn Tubs...lol...lol

Agree wit TTT last time we went to a cinema 6 kids in front of us all on their phones...chatting all the time don't think they watched much of the film at all completely spoilt it for us.won't go again thank god for kodi ;-)

^I`d just tell them to shut up. Cinemas make an announcement now about mobile phones and most of the time, people are good about it

We like to see 'blockbusters' at the cinema to get full benefit of the sounds/visual effects.
However, more character/storyline-led films are enjoyed in the comfort of our own home.

Love seeing films on the big screen - more impact. Agree the price of food and drinks is exorbitant so I just take my own. Steer clear of school holidays and in service days too. Odeon do a silver 60s day every week and our local 2 screen cinema at the Dundee Contemporary Arts have a Citizen Kane club every Thursday morning. Cheap tickets with tea and a biscuit, what more could you ask for.

I am still waiting to see a few we missed at the cinema. My taste is for daft escapism so Thor ragnarok,and jumanji are still on the list. I wonder when we will see them. I think I will get copies and watch them while the OP is snoozing. Microwave popcorn sorted

I think most Cinemas do a cheap Saver Day Ticket especially for the Pensioners and the less well off. Well worth finding out which day applies in your Area

Taking my local major cinemas (in Ipswich) as an example . .

. . . at Cineworld senior citizens get a discount all week long (paying £7.20 instead of £10.20 for a standard 2D film at most times). However there are further discounts before 5pm Monday to Friday, so that senior citizens pay £6.20 (instead of £8.20).

At Empire Cinemas senior citizens pay just £5.00 at all times for 2D films in standard seating (as against £6.45 Mon-Thu or £7.45 Fri-Sun for those paying the regular prices).

Mon oncle and Monsieur hulot's holiday, brilliant films, also Manon des sources and Jean de florette, not Jaques Tati tho.

No I love to go to the cinema - just find it too expensive to do it more than a couple of times a month.

I quite like going out to see a film and having lunch and a drink nearby too. I can't stand people chattering and eating when watching films, but the cinema we go to is usually almost empty.
