If anyone is, like me, itching to read the book but reluctant to do so because they don’t want to spoil the television series for themselves ….. good news. I am reliably informed that the book covers only the first series …. so we won’t know the real ending until we’ve watched the complete production. Buying the book as we speak!!

I thought that serena telling Fred he wasn’t the father was a trailer for series 2. I remember seeing it but didn’t think it was actually part of the first series.

LB/Rockrose/Puzzled, Well, I’m amazed. I don’t remember that. I’m disappointed now. I really wanted Offred to have given him a verbal kicking …. but she didn’t. :o(

AL, who do you think will spill the beans about the rape? Serena was party to it and I can’t imagine anyone would listen to complaints from a Handmaid.
Naomi : maybe offred will tell Aunt Lydia and she will tell someone in authority?, Especially if the baby is born with 'abnormalities'. I am assuming from this however that offed returns to civilisation before the birth (unlikely I feel). I have a feeling there is some sort of relationship between Serena and Nick that we have not been made party to yet. This could all be a set up to rid Serena of Fred. Nick seems very friendly with that older guy in the Eyes, which seems odd as there is a strict hierarchy in Gilead.
I'm keeping quiet now as I read more than I wanted to when checking out when Fred knew the baby wasn't his. Couldn't stop myself!
Glad I wasn't imagining it.

Rockrose, And I'm glad someone's on the ball with it rather more than I am! Thanks for that. The plot thickens!

AL, what sort of relationship do you think Serena and Nick might have.
Question Author
LB, haaaa! You're incorrigible!
Gee thanks Naomi;-)
Question Author
Haha! My pleasure. :o)
Good morning Naomi. I think the relationship between Nick and Serena Joy could be biological. Cousin ,nephew, or perhaps even brother? This would explain why Serena would be comfortable asking him to father Offed's child. Technically the child would carry some of her blood. Sounds plausible,?
Question Author
There's a thought!! Anything might be feasible.

What does everything else think of that idea?
I couldn't possibly comment;-))
Question Author
Hahahaha! Go on - admit it. You're doing this on purpose!
10 9 8 7 6 5 ............ ;-))

Thanks very much Tony. Where this programme is concerned we seem to be a ravenous bunch. We lap it all up. The more the better.
A whole episode giving birth.

Question Author
Well, not really. There was the escape plan .... and the hunt..... but now we know why the producers have been able to make three series from a relatively short story. I wonder who's arrived to collect her? The Guardians? And having given birth, will she be punished?
I didn't get to watch it last night so will view it tonight - cannot wait.
