I am making a pitch to make a short film 5-10 mins. film about folk. I want to show that it is more fun than people think and I hope to convince my audience that there is something to like about it. I would be very interested to know if any of you would be interested in watching such a film, and if so, why? and what would you want to see or know mainly? This would really help my pitch. thanks.

To most people, "Folk Music" conjures up images of beardy men singing traditional songs in an earthy manner - which understandably puts most people off investigating further. There are some great "modern" folk artists like Loreena McKennitt who remain relatively unknown despite being very accessible.

Depends whether you're concentrating on "traditional" or "modern" folk. Given you've only got 10 minutes, if you're covering the spectrum you could contrast some beardies with someone a bit more acceptable to the general public.

That's really funny. One of the main points in my pitch is that folk is not just to be associated with 'bearded men'! I will be focusing on folk culture really- new and old. Considering what you have said, I will be sure to emphasise the 'bearded men' part. Thanks!

Have you seen the movie A MIGHTY WIND
