dunnitall - // How can you endorse a druggie? It's not good IMO to say this is brill when it could influence people to think...fame and it's good to take drugs?? In my day people gained recognition for their talent. Her talent..Winehouse... isn't IMO. She survived on drugs and that's where her life existed until she killed herself with them! //
Not sure when 'your day' was, but drugs have been a part of the lives of musicians since the 1920's, and it is still present today.
I have to agree with other posters, enjoying someone's talent does not equate with endorsing their lifestyle. Millions of people love Frank Sinatra, but he was a flagrant racist, anti-Semitic, a wife-beater, and he enjoyed endorsing his 'bad guy' image by entertaining known Mafia bosses. Bing Crosby was a serial womaniser … the list goes on and on.
What about classical music - Wagner was a profound anti-Semite, one reason why Htiler adored his work so much, Wagner's music is banned from public performance in Israel to this day.
So it would be a shame to deny the obvious talents of any of these people, simply because as individuals, they led lives that would give most of us issues.
But as I said, you can love the art, even if you don't like the artist.
