hi - can anybody recall which british tv programme used "fanfare for the common man" theme by lake and palmer. if memory serves me correctly i think it was a science fiction/ health type show from the 70's. could have been bbc or seen as i'm from leeds area might have been a local yorkshire tv programme presented by the likes of miriam stoppard and dr rob buckland
looked on there donny and found a bit of stuff but both me and my mate are insistent that it was used on a british tv programme from late 70's / early 80's
Trivia note for ELP fans - the recorded version of the music that was released was supposed to be the initial studio run-through before recording, but in fact, the tapes were running, and the 'run-through' was captured.
Just as well, because after about thirty more tries, the band decided that the 'run-through' was the best version, so barring a few minor overdubs, that is what became the finished product.
Was it not the theme to a sports celebrity programme hosted by Ron Pickering/David Vine? Sports stars of the day had to complete various tasks, e.g. bike riding, sprinting, obstacle courses etc. Can't remember the name of the programme though. Something like Champions or such.
