Interesting, but sad and disturbing true drama about murders of young women. Actor Martin Clunes, plays DIC, Colin Sutton.

Yes, I remember that poor girl's murder as I used to live not far from there. Dreadful.
Question Author
I remembered it well too. So sad. It seems the evil man attacked quite a few women.
I was shocked that such a thing could happen in Twickenham. Daft I know, evil can happen anywhere, but I always thought of it as such a nice area.
I did watch it.
Very good dramatisation of a sensitive subject and Clunes does an excellent job.
I wonder if it is true that the French police did not want to tell her parents in person that their daughter had been murdered. And that DCI Sutton soon put them right!
I would assume that part was true, ladybirder. Poetic licence doesn't stretch to outright lies, i don't think. Besides which, what would be the point of the scene's inclusion if it didn't actually take place?
To make DCI Sutton look a strong no nonsense character who likes to get his own way is all I can think of. Or to reinforce that impression.
Question Author
He seems a man of principle. Being a father, he felt for these parents. No wonder he was angry at the French police, for not wanting to tell parents!
Yes indeed, I loved the way he sorted them out. Never particularly been a fan of Clunes, neither like nor dislike. Bed for me now, night night.
Question Author
Much respect for Martin! Good night ladybirder..

clearly hasnt seen "In the name of the Father"
where the alibi of wimbledon park bench just doesnt exist
not does Emma Thompson bawl out the Court of Appeal - solicitors had no right of audience

but looked good -
will get on catch up
Our versatile Martin Clunes did it proud as usual. Great job!
I thought it is being done in a very non-sensational way. Wasn't sure whether to watch it, but glad I have. I think it's all based on fact so the way the policeman has to deal with negative responses from his team is very interesting.
Imagine sitting looking at CCTV for hours and hours. Well done to all concerned in the capture of this evil man.
Im looking forward to seeing the next episode tonight.
Question Author
Me too. A great insight how police go about these awful crimes.
We watched it, I look forward to tonight's episode.
Levi Bellfield
one of the detectives said in the investigation that he had never had so many statements beginning with:

I had a brief relationship with Levi Bellfield...
Absolutely fantastic
I wonder if Amelie's parents are aware this is being shown?
