The play was written by Alan Bennett, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. I don't know anything about a book.

It's easier to come up with the answers at home. I'd be hopeless put on the spot, couldn't think quickly enough. Although I know the answer I think that's a harder question than some

Why do you feel sorry for her? No one forced to go on.

And anyone who takes from the pot loses any respect or sympathy i might have had for them.

Slightly off the topic, I always think that when the first contestant is often advised not to go for the high offer "until we see what form the Chaser is in", the Chaser is far more likely to know the answers to the multiple choice questions. The Chaser may, occasionally, get an answer wrong but "form" is hardly an issue.
