Someone said, 'Yes, Denzel makes for one very cool bad-ass with his shiny Colt .45 strapped to his hip with the butt forward, but that's about it.
There is almost nothing in this picture that is a surprise or unpredictable. Dialog between actors is awkward and stilted (and sometimes completely unintelligible). Very little background on any of the characters is presented and offers no development what-so-ever.'
That sums it up for me. Unless of course you are 10 years old and never saw the original.
It's folly to try to remake a film that was as near to dammit a perfect western.
I'd agree entirely withy Khandro's assessment - the film lacked character and decent dialogue, it was really quite poor, whether you have seen the original, or just knew this as a stand-alone film.
Have watched it twice though it was excellent..I will never read or listen to film or music critics just because they don't like it doesn't mean everyone else won't like it
It's a Western with people a shootin and blowing this up
Even the original was the same
If you want anything else then perhaps a Western is not for you ? //
Westerns are very much for me - High Noon, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Pale Rider, Unforgiven, Hang 'Em High, Django Unchained - all westerns or set in that era, and some of my favourite films ever.
I love the original and so was a bit skeptical when the remake was announced. However, I think it is a great movie for what it is. Ok, so some of the acting is a little bit wooden but it is a good movie if you want to escape for a few hours. Is it going to win any awards? No, but it is an enjoyable watch.
