Anyone listened to Simon Mayo's show on Scala radio yet? Must admit I find it heavy going, not a patch on his old BBC Drivetime show....even when he was with Jo Whiney!

Perhaps he's still 'bedding in' - as the BBC ludicrously used to say to excuse the aural car crash that was the inclusion of Jo Whiley.

I can't see this show ever taking off. He's not suited to classical music presentation

I've never been too fussed on Simon Mayo on the radio.I preferred Gary Davies and Mark Goodier on R2.

As to his suitability concerning classical music,perhaps he made a sacrifice in style for the pay?

He knows how to write a decent book though.I thought his historical fiction 'Mad Blood Stirring' was very good.

Andy - I'm not a great fan of Jo Whiley but Zoe Ball really grates on me so much I can't listen to the breakfast show now.She sounds so insincere and acts juvenile.

Her sidekick,Richie Anderson, is appalling.He makes a big drama out of just simply reading the Travel news.He irritatingly also precedes his reports sometimes by saying 'Jim's,been on,the lovely Jim' or some other named person.Why is he lovely? He's never met whoever it is'.

He's gay and I hate the way Zoe plays up to him. Recently,she said when reviewing the papers:

'Ooo look Richie,Kylie Minogue is wearing a pink jumpsuit with matching pink mobile phone cover'

Just absolute drivel....
