Rose decided not to kill her dad, wrote the letter saying she wouldn't trouble the family again and got her porter friend to kill her step dad. We didn't NEED to see him do this to know that's what occurred. Writers (not the ones who write soap scripts) credit the viewers with having the intelligence to read between the lines. Excellent series by today's standards and i for one would be very surprised if there was a second series. In fact, i'd be amazed.
Found this resume on a the Sun website:
Episode starts off with Leah being prime suspect for the murder of her husband Adam. The two detectives in charge of the case are convinced she is guilty. They end up charging her with murder after they find her prints on the knife used to kill Adam. Rose lies to detectives that she had been having an affair with Adam for six months before his death and that Leah was jealous of her.
She also suggests that Leah had been "bullying her for months".
She then tells the detective she had slept with Adam on the night of the murder - implying that Leah had found out and had a reason to kill him. And as the net closes in she asks her father for money to help her "go away for a while" - but he refuses. We find out here that her dad had gone off with her mum's sister, Auntie Pam, after he found out about the affair Leah's dad had with his wife.Their conversation ends with Rose's dad saying that she is "rotten to the core". Leah goes to the university to speak to Rose and try to stop her from lying, but instead she taunts her, saying: "I wish there was a way for us both to walk out of this, but there isn't." Slowly Rose's lies start to unravel.
The pathologist suggests that the knife they found with Leah's prints on it may not have been used to murder Adam.
Also, one of the detective's realises, from CCTV footage, that the jacket Rose was wearing on the night of the murder was NOT the one she handed in to the police.
The detective gets a search warrant and searches Rose's dorm and finds Leah's engagement ring.
Rose goes back to the room and realises the ring is gone and the game could be up.
Leah's dad Michael - who is also Rose's real dad - then gets her to meet him at a cafe to talk.
She agrees, and there Michael explains that his romance with her mum hadn't been a brief fling they had "been in love" and the affair went on for six years .
Rose then confesses that she killed Adam.
She says: "Adam put his hands around my neck and squeezed until I couldn't see. I couldn't breathe."
She went on: "I reached back and I felt something in my hand, I didn't even know I was doing it, but I had to. It was the only way to get him off me."
Michael then says: "You killed Adam?"
Rose then says: "Yeah, I killed him."
But little does Rose know that Michael is wearing a wire and the police have heard everything - he shows her the wire and says that Leah "comes first" to him - in other words he'd rather save her. Cheat came to a chilling conclusion two years after Adam's death.
Rose is in jail and Leah goes to see her, as she heard she is about to be released after serving time for Adam's manslaughter.
Rose then tells her the REAL truth and that she didn't kill him in self defence.Leah says she wants the truth and Rose says: "He deserved it, you don't really think that I would do it in self defence do you?"
She went on: "Adam barely touched me."
She describes how he went to call the police to get her out of his house and she stabbed twice - once in the chest and once in the neck.Rose then revealed that bruises she had on her neck weren't from Adam, but instead Ben did it, so it would look like Adam had attacked her.The show ended with Leah and her new son - Adam's longed-for child - and her mum going to see her dad Michael who had moved out of the house after the whole Rose incident. But after they left Michael went for a walk in the woods with his dog, and Ben, Rose's accomplice was seen lurking there with a knife - but the credits then rolled and we don't know if he went on to kill him.
